Espen Gleditsch at Jugendstilsenteret and KUBE

In the year KUBE celebrates its 20th anniversary, Espen Gleditsch is exhibiting his series mmmMarbles (2022). The photographic series is based on the decoration at the Parthenon Temple in Athens, which was purchased in 1816 by Thomas Bruce and has since then been part of the collection of The British Museum.
The exhibition runs until September 14th 2025.
"In the work mmmMarbles, Gleditsch addresses the ongoing conflict that has long existed between Greece and Britain regarding who truly owns these sculptures. In Athens, a dedicated museum has been built, awaiting their return. Gleditsch also highlights how conservation methods over time have not always been in the best interest of the sculptures. They were originally painted in vibrant colors but have repeatedly been cleaned to align with the modern ideal of white marble sculptures." Read more about the exhibition on their website here.
