Christian Tunge at this years Oslo Art Weekend
We are pleased to take part in this year’s Oslo Art Weekend, taking place from May 28–31, 2026. Over four days, more than 50 art institutions, galleries, artist-run exhibition spaces, and museums come together to mark Norway’s largest festival for contemporary art.
During Oslo Art Weekend QB Gallery presents the exhibition Falling Off A Horse Slowly by Christian Tunge (21.05 -28.06.2026 ). There will also be an artist talk with Tunge on Saturday, May 30 at 14:00 at the gallery, as part of the OAW program.
Falling Off A Horse Slowly presents a new series of photographs by Christian Tunge. Combining photography and printmaking, the exhibition continues Tunge’s technical and thematic investigations into photography, reproduction, and the circulation of images.
Through a mosaic of photographs from different places and situations, the exhibition forms a fragmented portrait of the United States. Produced over eleven journeys during the past seven years, the works resist any singular narrative structure. Many of the images are charged with symbolism, where dream, realism, and cliché coexist side by side, while composition, surface, colour, line, and symbol are treated as autonomous elements within the works.
Long engaged with contemporary image culture, Tunge examines imagery and symbolism that shape collective desires and imaginaries. The exhibition can be read as a visual and emotional encounter with the United States — both as a physical reality and as a cultural image.
