Anders Sletvold Moe (b. 1978, Steinkjer) is amongst the Norwegian artists of his generation that have gone into direct dialog with the Nordic modernism. In his iconic series “Black Letters”, he is making love letters in small format to the artists that have meant a lot to him, in a way that redefines the monochrome as something more than a critical gesture and iconoclasm, and that have rather taken a shape of dialogue-based homage. Such an active relation to the historical art also characterizes the works that to a lesser extent points directly at specific sources of inspiration or references. Regardless of what medium he works in, the art is identified by a tight and impressive precision.
