Immolation (Burning Men) is a series of risograph prints based on the concept of self immolation. The act of publicly setting fire to oneself has a documented history as far back as year 300 AD in China. Historically, self immolation has been used in religious rituals, as a self sacrifice. However, over the last 50 years, parallel with the rise of published and online media, this act has gotten increasingly political. Christian Tunge has selected four images that have been successful in the sense that they have been important to a specific cause and have created a lot of attention online, changing the cultural perception of the phenomenon.
